The Chicco Next2Me Magic

This is one of Chicco's more expensive options, but it comes with a lot of features. It can be used either a side-sleeper, or a standalone crib and is suitable for babies from birth to six months. It features a brand new mechanism for opening and closing the side panel. It's easy to operate even with one hand. It's also more adjustable than its predecessor, having 11 different height settings as well as legs that retract to installation underneath any bed.

Our testers loved the ease of access the side panel provides that can be lowered and raised at the touch of the button. This was particularly helpful at night, as they could reach in and pick up their baby without disturbing them up.

The side panel can be lowered on its own however, it's not recommended since it increases the chance of your child falling out of the cot. However, the patented safety locking mechanism ensures that it will only remain in place if it is connected to the parent's bed correctly. This is a wonderful feature to have for peace of mind, especially in the case of breastfeeding and frequent nighttime feedings.

Telescopic legs enable the Chicco Next2Me Magic to be used with any bed including divan bases or beds with drawers. It has a tilting feature for reflux babies, and the ability to rock to calm them after eating. It's also extremely large and has great ventilation due to its mesh sides.

Our testers found the Next2Me Magic easy to set up and use, though it does have quite an extensive instruction manual. It is a little heavier than other side-sleepers, but it can still be easily moved from one room to another. It's small enough to fit into its travel bag when not in use which is a plus when you have to transport it. The only issue our testers have found is that the side panel didn't move as much as other models. This caused it to be a bit more difficult to see your baby from your bed.

The kit for conversion to cot is also well-designed with clear instructions. It comes with everything you need. It took us about an hour to put together and was fairly straightforward. The only issue with the instructions was that a few images were not captioned. This made it difficult to follow. However, overall it was a straightforward process and the quality of materials used was high.

In the co-sleeping mode, we found the Shnuggle Air to be an excellent choice for breastfeeding mums and women who have had a c-section because it lets them comfortably reach out to their infant for comfort and feeding without having to climb out of their bed. It's great for parents who do not want to go through the hassle of putting their baby in a traditional cot or getting out of it.

The motion of gliding was found to be very beneficial in lulling babies to sleep following meals at night or midday. The drop-down side can be accessible to feed or soothe babies in the middle of the night, which was a real selling point for our exhausted test mums. While it doesn't rock or have extra features such as an audio system the Joie Roomie Glide's sleek design and functional features make it a great addition to our top bedside crib reviews.
